Our Story

To Eco Packaging is part of the To Go Group, an ecosystem of brands driven forward by an experienced team and a commitment to doing business fairly, ethically and sustainably.

We’ve come a long way in 22 years.

In 2000, David Smith and Simon Rayner opened the first To Go coffee and sandwich shops. It soon became apparent there was an overwhelming demand for office catering from companies in the local area.

As the company expanded, To Go created cafes in office foyers and continued to expand the office catering business. This formed the basis of To Go Catering.

In 2007, David and Simon invested in Kingdom Coffee, a local ethical coffee supplier. In the same year, head chef David Hatherall joined the company, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge.

As Executive Chef, David took over the running of To Go Catering. Under his leadership, the brand has built relationships with local companies and suppliers, and expanded to provide many different services such as office catering, office pantry services, executive dining, BBQs, weddings and many other events.

In 2010 To Go moved into new bespoke production unit at Spencer’s Wood, as the company grew after securing new contracts to supply in-house catering services, including Jacob’s at Winnersh.

Since 2012, To Go have expanded into providing Micro Kitchen services, a business which now services many high profile companies in London and the South East.

An essential part of the To Go journey has been constantly looking for ways to make our company kinder to people and planet — whether that’s supporting homeless local charities, investing in low-carbon delivery vehicles, or supporting local organic farm initiatives.

Building a sutainable, ethical business

Fighting food poverty

As the To Go Group grows, we want to do right by our local community and our planet.

By teaming with a local charity — the Providence Chapel in Reading — To Go have been helping to fight food poverty, especially among homeless people.

Despite its many changes, To Go remains the local company with a global perspective.

Supporting sustainable initiatives

The To Go Group has always taken sustainability seriously — right from the start, we used fair trade, ethical coffee that respected growers and the environment. Recently, we’ve invested in low-carbon delivery vans.

We’re also sponsoring the Teague Farm Project which, amongst many activities, grows organic fruit and vegetables, plants wild flowers and an orchard, restores wildlife habitats and encourages community pollination from bees.

We are also currently working on a system with Teague Farm for recycling used coffee grounds.
